After many years of being a dedicated semi-professional film photographer, I eventually went full-time, making the jump from film to digital DSLRs and Rangefinders early on, working in portraiture and weddings and also covering modest sized events. Along the way I felt the need to expand my use of still cameras to include film, then eventually digital video cameras and sound recording equipment.
Attempting to cover all that ground, you soon realise that you have to step up and learn all the ancillary skill sets that go into making high quality video presentations of the sort the YouTube / Vimeo / Instagram crowd have come to expect, let alone the mainstream production companies. Of course, this entails much more than just competent camera work!
So, welcome to my irregular ramblings, occasional project summaries and perhaps even some thoughts on the gear and software I’ve had to come to terms with on this seemingly endless journey.
